Flordeliza Mahilum recently completed her chemotherapy for an aggressive form of breast cancer. After a six-month break during her treatment, the 50-year-old Bloomfield resident is headed back to her job as a respiratory therapist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. As she transitions back to normal life, Mahilum is looking for all the help she can get to help her feel better about herself. The Look Good … Feel Better program, a joint effort between the American Cancer Society, the National Cosmetology Association and the Professional Beauty Association, offers free makeover seminars for women going through cancer treatment. In group workshops and one-to-one sessions, a professional stylist helps patients deal with problems like hair loss and skin discoloration to give women a boost of self-confidence.
