    HIFU, high intensity ultrasound, is used in 61 centres in Europe on Kidney and prostate tumours – see CANCERactive in the UK for more. It is a cheap alternative to surgery, without the side effects, and for prostate has a 87.7 per cent 5 year survival. It is just about to be trialled (against cryosurgery) at MD Anderson.
