Olive Oil Lice Treatment For Children

advertisement

A head lice infestation is a very common problem amongst children, particularly those who are already going to school. To remove lice, you may opt for an olive oil treatment. This will eliminate these annoying pests on your child. Lice and nits are viewed by many as an ailment which develops from poor hygiene. But, this is definitely not true. Lice are more attracted to clean, healthy hair. If you, your child, or any family member has experienced a head lice infestation, or if you just want to take precautions and learn about the treatment in case someone is afflicted, then you should know that olive oil is the only method that has been considered to work for generations now.

An olive oil lice treatment is already a proven method, which has stood the test of time, when it comes to treating a head lice infestation. It is very easy to use, and you can produce positive results quickly. For the olive oil lice treatment to work effectively, make sure that the entire household uses the same treatment. First and foremost, make sure to start the treatment with the person infested with head lice before treating the rest of the family members. All bedding and pajamas should be washed on a hot temperature setting. Then, you can put these items in a dryer on a high heat setting for about 10 to 15 minutes. This procedure will kill the nits and lice that are infesting these household items.

Remember that the main ingredient of this lice treatment is olive oil, So, if you do not have any of it at home, you can buy it at your local grocery store. Aside from the olive oil, you will also need a fine-toothed comb and paper towels.

To start the treatment, apply the olive oil to the hair and start massaging the scalp of your child. Make sure to spread the oil on the entire head, particularly in the area behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Leave the oil on the hair for at least 15 minutes and comb the hair in sections afterward. This is to make sure that all of the nits are covered with the olive oil. Then, rinse the hair to make sure that both the olive oil lice treatment and the lice and nits are washed off. You may repeat rinsing the hair using an ordinary shampoo and/or conditioner until the oil is removed.

This lice treatment may sometimes require more than one session. But, since it is safe, you do not have to worry about having to repeat the procedure. This will not harm your child because it is a natural ingredient. You do not have to worry about damaging the hair cuticles of your child, since this treatment contains no harsh chemicals.

After every treatment, make sure to check his/her hair to see if there are still some visible nits attached to the hair shaft. If so, repeat the same procedure several days later, and do the same for the rest of your family, including yourself.
